Associate Scientist/Senior Associate Scientist Position

 

Job Description

 

Immunocodex, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist/Senior Associate Scientist to join its research team in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate has a strong background in biology, an interest in autoimmune diseases, and is looking to make a significant impact on our cross-disciplinary team. The candidate would be responsible for planning, performing, and analyzing in vivo and ex vivo studies to drive program discovery and development. Candidates with experience in molecular cloning, a background in immunology, and/or experience working with in vivo disease models are strongly preferred.

 

Immunocodex is an exciting new startup company based upon work by Professor Francisco Quintana at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The company exists in a highly collaborative, fast-paced research environment with excellent access to resources and equipment.

 

Responsibilities/Requirements

 

  • Plan, perform and analyze studies using in vitro and in vivo models to evaluate therapeutic efficacy of drug candidates. 

  • Execute key molecular biology tasks including bacterial transformations, site-directed mutagenesis, nucleic acid isolation, qPCR, flow cytometry, and ELISAs.

  • Assist in the formulation and QC analysis of mRNA LNPs.

  • Perform routine rodent handling, dosing (including but not limited to subcutaneous, intraperitoneal, intravenous, and oral routes of administration), measurement of body weight, clinical disease monitoring, and blood and tissue collection.

  • Function independently, work within a team-oriented lab environment, and work within cross-functional project teams.

  • Analyze and present data in a team environment.

  • Requirement for accurate record keeping, independent data analysis, and reporting of data in written and oral formats. 

  • Assist in authoring and updating laboratory SOPs. 

  • Contribute to laboratory maintenance tasks, including ordering and maintaining stock and resources.

Education/Experience
​
  • B.S. and/or M.S. in biology or a closely related field with 2+ years of industry laboratory experience.

  • Experience with bacterial cloning, transformations, transfections, and site-directed mutagenesis.

  • Experience with rodent handling, dosing, and necropsy.

  • Experience with collection and processing of tissues for RNA, protein, and histological analyses.

  • Experience with molecular biology assays including qPCR, western blot, and ELISA.

  • Experience with in vitro and ex vivo culturing techniques.

  • Proven ability to advance multiple studies simultaneously and support the implementation of new assay technologies.

  • A background in immunology or autoimmune diseases is a plus.

  • A background in mRNA/LNP technology is a plus.
